Deep in the green heart of Paraguarí lies Salto Cristal; a massive 45-meter veil of water crashing into a natural crystal-clear pool. It is wild, remote, and the ultimate escape for those who want to touch real nature.
Salto Cristal is one of the most famous postcards of Paraguay, but it protects itself well. It is not located on a paved highway. To get there, you must navigate kilometers of rough, red dirt tracks, steep stony descents, and sugarcane fields.
Many rental cars (and inexperienced drivers) fail on this road. Once you arrive, the adventure continues with a steep hike down wooden stairs to reach the water. This isn’t just a sightseeing stop—it’s a mini-expedition.
Don’t risk getting your rental car stuck in the mud or lost in the sugarcane fields. We provide a rugged, capable vehicle driven by a professional who knows every bump in the road.
We are your safety net. We guide you down the steep trails, help carry your gear, and ensure you have the right advice to enjoy the water safely. We take the stress out of the “adventure” so you can focus on the fun.
The adventure begins before we see the water. We drive through the scenic landscapes of Paraguarí. It’s a bumpy ride, but the views of rural Paraguay—red earth and endless green fields—are authentic and raw.
Once we park, we begin the hike. We descend a long set of wooden stairs that cuts through the dense subtropical forest. As you climb down, the air gets cooler and the sound of the crashing water grows louder.
At the bottom, the forest opens up to reveal the amphitheater of rock and water. You can swim in the refreshing, cool pool at the base of the falls. It is the perfect place to float, relax, and wash away the heat of the city.
After the swim and the climb back up, we relax. We can arrange a picnic at the top or head to a local rustic restaurant (Quincho) nearby to refuel with traditional food before the drive home.
The stairs are steep, and the rocks near the water can be slippery. We are there to lend a hand, help you with your bags, and ensure children or older family members navigate the path safely.
One of the biggest worries at public swimming spots is “Who watches my bag?” Your guide keeps an eye on your phones, wallets, and dry clothes while you enjoy the water. You can swim with total peace of mind.
We cannot stress this enough: The road to Salto Cristal destroys small city cars. Our vehicle is maintained and ready for the terrain, ensuring you don’t spend your vacation waiting for a tow truck.

We believe that a great experience starts with clear communication. Traveling to a new country involves many details, and we want you to feel 100% confident before you book. Below, we have answered the most common questions travelers ask us regarding our safety standards, logistics, and service quality. If you don’t see your question here, we are just a message away.
You don't need to be an athlete, but you need reasonable mobility. The staircase down to the falls is steep, and the climb back up is a workout. If you are traveling with very young children or elderly family members, please consult with us first so we can advise you honestly.
Yes, it is refreshingly cool! In the Paraguayan summer (December-March), it is the perfect relief from the heat. In winter, it is beautiful to photograph, but usually too cold for swimming.
We recommend this for active children aged 8+. Younger children might struggle with the stairs. Life jackets are recommended for kids swimming in the deep areas (available for rent at the site).
We strongly advise against jumping or diving from high rocks due to hidden submerged rocks. Your safety is our priority. Swimming is safe in the designated areas.
There are basic rustic facilities at the entrance (top of the hill) where you can change clothes and use the restroom. Note: There are no facilities at the bottom of the falls.
If there is heavy rain on the day of the tour or the day before, we may need to reschedule or change the destination. The dirt road to Salto Cristal becomes impassable mud during storms. We monitor the weather closely for your safety.
No. We can stop at a local Comedor for a simple, authentic meal, or you can bring your own snacks/picnic. We provide a cooler in the car if you want to bring drinks.
Yes! Salto Cristal is one of the best places in Paraguay for drone photography. However, be careful with the signal interference near the rock walls and the water spray.
