Paraguay is an “off-the-beaten-path” destination, so it is normal to have doubts. Whether you are coming for a 3-day adventure or a lifetime move, we believe clarity is the first step to a great trip.
The Honest Answer: Compared to its neighbors (Brazil/Argentina), Paraguay is statistically safer regarding violent crime. However, petty crime exists in major cities. Our Advice: We advise clients to avoid walking alone at night in downtown Asunción or Ciudad del Este. When you book our private drivers or tours, you are in a "bubble" of safety. We know exactly which streets are safe and which to avoid.
In Asunción: At high-end hotels and restaurants, you will find some English speakers. In the Interior: English is almost non-existent. Guaraní and Spanish are the norm. How We Help: This is why our service is essential. Anton, Yanina and our team speak fluent English. We act as your translators and fixers so you never feel lost or misunderstood.
The Sweet Spot: March to May (Autumn) and September to November (Spring). The temperatures are pleasant (20°C - 30°C). The Extreme: Summer (Dec-Feb) is very hot (often 40°C+). If you visit then, we schedule tours early in the morning and prioritize air-conditioned vehicles and pools.
The Mix: Major credit cards are accepted in malls, supermarkets, and nice restaurants in Asunción. The Reality: For taxis, street food, small crafts, or rural towns, you need cash (Guaranies - PYG). Tip: We recommend bringing USD (clean, new bills) to exchange here. ATMs are widely available but charge high withdrawal fees for foreign cards.
In Asunción: The tap water is treated and technically potable, but the mineral content is different and can upset sensitive stomachs. Our Recommendation: We strongly advise all our international clients to stick to bottled water to ensure your trip isn't ruined by a stomach bug.
The New Law: As of late 2022, most applicants start with a Temporary Residency (valid for 2 years) before converting to Permanent. The Timeline: You generally need to be in Paraguay for about 3-5 working days to file the paperwork with us. The card takes a few months to process, but you can leave the country while you wait.
Yes and No: Uber and Bolt exist and are cheap. However, the cars are often very small, sometimes in poor condition, and drivers may cancel if the trip is too long. Why Book Us: For airport transfers, business meetings, or long trips, our Private Driver service guarantees a safe, modern vehicle and a professional driver who won't cancel on you.
The Blend: Most agencies are either 100% local (and don't understand international expectations) or 100% foreign (and don't know the local secrets). Anton & Yanina: We are the hybrid. Anton ensures the logistics are Swiss-watch precise. Yanina ensures the experience is visually beautiful and culturally deep. You get the best of both worlds.
Your trip is unique, and you might have a specific question that isn’t listed here.
Don’t rely on outdated blogs or Reddit threads. Ask the locals who are on the ground right now.
Whether you need a quick tip about the weather or a quote for a 10-day expedition, Anton or Yanina will get back to you personally.

"We didn't want a boring history tour. Yanina understood that. She took us to a hidden ceramic workshop in Areguá where we drank Tereré with the artisan. It felt like visiting a friend, not a tour. Her eye for photography also meant we went home with incredible family photos."

(Family Trip, UK)
"I had read horror stories about the immigration office. This team handled everything. They picked me up, walked me to the front of the line, translated every document, and bought me coffee while we waited. I felt completely protected. Worth every penny for the peace of mind."

(Digital Nomad, Sweden)
"I was nervous to explore the Chaco alone. Yanina designed a custom itinerary that balanced adventure with safety. I never felt unsafe, and the guides they chose were respectful and knowledgeable. A boutique service that actually cares."

"I came to Asunción to scout investment properties and was worried about ‘Latin time.’ Anton had the itinerary planned down to the minute. The driver was professional, the car was pristine, and I got more done in 2 days than I expected to do in a week. Highly recommended for business travelers."
